1. Retro styling with additional retro cowl? Check
2. Japanese Reliability? Check
3. Kawasaki Green? Fucking check
4. Perfect amount of engine? Check
5. Comfortable rider ergonomics and Retro guages? Check
6. about $12000 MSRP? Fuck it! (or I shall wait a decade..or two)
Be still my fluttering heart!
The bike is inspired by the 1972 Kawasaki Z1 model, and it’s based on the already retro Z900RS seen in the gallery above. True to the café racer ethos, it looks lighter and more agile than the RS. The racing-inspired cowl and the lower, blacked-out handlebars along with the higher seat give the bike a sportier look. Power comes from a 900cc straight-four, which makes 110 horsepower and 73 lb-ft of torque. The Z900RS version of the same engine has more power, and the Café’s unit has been detuned, but Kawasaki claims this has been done to bring peak power 1000 rpm lower in the rev range to make it feel more old-school.
There are three color choices, ranging from Stormcloud Blue to Metallic Graphite Gray and finally the very retro Vintage Lime Green. The two first colors will be launched in Japan on August 1, with the green following a month later. Japanese prices are said to be at $11,499, and the bikes will be sold in the United States, so official U.S. pricing is sure to follow.

Here’s a review on the standard Z900RS. It’s very good.

It looks like a Kawasaki Kz1000 fucked a Ninja 250 and then fell out of the ugly tree.

As someone who likes bikes but will never buy one, that’s a damn nice looking bike!
My roommate just got one of these and I’m hella jealous just not enough to go buy a bike

650CC? Not fast or powerful enough for ‘Murrican roads. You’d get run over on anything less than 750CC. Trust me I know a thing or two about a thing or two.

I am really happy with the huge 70s retro revival of the past few years. So many good options

Meh. I know this bike is getting a lot of attention, but it honestly does nothing for me. There’s no fizz.

I don’t want a super exotic European ground breaking design and performance machine priced at a M illion Dollars . This is what I like.

Ride a bike from the 70's often do you? How about drive a 70's car?
There might be reason why neither of those responses are positive. They might echo common sense pertaining to these revivals.

That is a good looking bike.
My ideal is the Suzuki SFV650.

The mods can make your title of your post bigger to take up more space and seem highly recommended, but now Kinj a decided that an author can embiggen their own posts at their own discretion. It’s good if you honestly and truly know what would be an im portant and good post and embiggen that but in instances like this it’s uncalled for. And frankly kind of annoying. I experimented with one post of mine and embiggened the post where I said was leaving, but nothing else yet. I’d only use it if I make an insightful and helpful/looking for help post or a review. TChalla on the other has embiggened every post of his since the feature arrived.

Check out an Aprilia Shiver. 900cc twin, looks better, has sweet dash and better electronics, and currently has a $1k rebate so only $8,399 + tax and such.
Aprilia’s dealer network is total and complete rubbish, but the bikes are amazing and actually very affordable for what you get.

I could dash your perceptions worse than claimed intermingling of DNA and subsequent physical defects. Just going to leave this here for when you come to your senses and check the used market for the first year of this version. Even the previous one was stellar.

Wow, “Come to my senses?” Because God forbid someone has a different taste amirite?
The last thing I want is an unreliable, super expensive BMW motorcycle no matter how good it is because I am not a Millionaire... yet.
Plus if you’re going to post a pricey BMW bike you could have at least posted a nice retro one

King, I love your sense of taste! <3 That’s something I’d buy two of. Have one as a living room centerpiece and the other to actually ride.
But... considering my budget I’ll probably end up with a Honda Monkey instead.
![]() 07/11/2018 at 21:57 |
|
Wish they’d make a normal sized version of the Monkey but then it would lose its charm. But it would be great to have one

What I was ultimately alluding to was parallels between
that which was made under similar economic conditions and quality of raw materials used in the 70's.

An MV Agusta Brutale is also an option, around the same price range.
Toilet seat shaped LED headlights are retro!
![]() 07/11/2018 at 22:17 |

So brutal! cannot unsee the toilet seat now.
I’d go Ducati Scrambler 1100,another one in my shortlist

yeah, but also I’m not in the States so a 650 with ~80hp and sub 400lbs would be perfect for someone of my girth.

It’s gorgeous and sounds amazing but I have this tendency to do stupid things behind motorized things and 2 wheels wouldn’t end up good. Luckily(?) all my 4 wheel idiocy is now contained to taking my car down roads it doesn’t really have any business on.
